For the 80th anniversary, the museum is celebrating with a special exhibit of 140 works by Monet. The museum has put together an exhibition of 115 Impressionist paintings to accompany “Impression, sunrise” by Monet, the painting which gave the name to ‘impressionism’. Interestingly, sometimes Monet called it a sunset and at other times he called it a sunrise.
Among the other painters represented are Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley and Berthe Morisot, and Eugène Boudin.
